Woman tires of caring for sick husband, shoots him dead

Maria Fabian killed her husband because she was tired of having to take care of a sick old man. Maria was 52. Her husband Michael Fabian was 70 and suffered from a cardiopulmonary disease which required him to use an oxygen machine. He also had prostate cancer and diabetes, according to Maria’s statements to police. She became overwhelmed by the burden of having to care for him so she decided to shoot him dead. She allegedly told police she just couldn’t take it any more so she shot her husband with “the big gun”.
No doubt the idea of marrying a man 18 years older than herself was exciting to Maria at one point; but the trouble with marrying someone who is 18 years older than you is that they get old long before you do and in the case of Michael Fabian, they get sick and you’re left with the burden of having to take care of them. A 52 year old woman still has a few good years to work with so it’s understandable that it would be frustrating having to take care of an elderly husband who suffers with a heart disease, prostate cancer and diabetes.
You’d think it would have been better for everyone concerned if Maria had simply hired a home health aide. Then again maybe there was no money. It’s hard to understand why she would choose to kill him knowing it would mean going to jail. Why not just leave him? Could have been that she would have gotten into trouble doing that anyway, charged with criminal neglect or something. Maybe she killed him because she believed he would be better off dead; but now she’s facing a first-degree murder charge.
Maria Fabian and Michael Fabian had a 17 year old son. The couple married when Maria was 34 and Michael was 52.

My brother was NOT suffering from cancer but only had repiratory problems. SHE IS A LIAR AND MURDERER. He was fully mobile and worked full time with me in our family business as an auto instrument technician until 2005 when he suffered respiratory failure. She is trying to portray herself as the long suffering wife, but she is an fact an evil greedy murderer. My brothers son Michael Jr. , stepdaughter Kathy, myself and my family have a protective order against this homicidal maniac. This was premeditated MURDER. Kathy has been appointed guardianhip of my nephew. THE MOTIVE FOR THIS CRIME WAS GREED. Maria emptied my brothers savings accounts and even stole the money of her son and daughter. She was using several social security numbers and has a record of abuse with the DCFS. The only reason my brother stayed with her was for his son. My brother tried to protect his family from this evil woman by leaving property in trust to his son. My brother told me and numerous other family members that if he died his son would be left with nothing. I, my wife and Kathy just went to the Cook County medical examiner yesterday to identify the body of a KIND MAN who was brutally murdered. This bitch did it in the coldest way. The police confession went this way: She asked my brother how to operate a pistol he had locked up. My brother responded “why do you want to do that?”. She replied “I just want to learn”. He then instructed her how to operate the weapon. She did not return the weapon to the safe, but instead returned to the bedroom a short time later and shot him in the back. He then turned to face her and pleaded “Don’t shoot me.” She then proceeded to shoot him in the chest killing him. She said to the police she was “frustrated”. My brother was not the basket case sick husband she is trying to portray, but even if he was she is still a cold hearted murderer. SHE WAS “FRUSTRATED” THAT HE WAS STILL ALIVE AND HIS HEALTH WAS IMPROVING. She NEVER made any sacrifices for her family in any way , and was alway motivated by SELF INTEREST. She deserves to spend the rest of her life locked up.

I have know Michael all my life. I am only 13 years old but i know much about him. Michael was perfectly fine the last time i seen him and that was no more then a week before this evil cold hearted woman murdered him. He was fuctioning like any other person would. He was up and up and moving around. He was a very loveing, kind, nice man. Maria was a horrible person. They did have the money to get him a home health aide and My mother and her friends offered millons of times to help. She was always saying “If you ever need help just call” or “If you ever need help I am here all the time just tell me” Michael had no more then 6 mouths to a year to live. She had MANY chances to get help, but she still refused it and just shot him. I feel NO symphthy what’s so ever for this woman and she should stay in jail for life!!
