To be honest we’re not decided yet exactly what FOOQU is. We’re playing with ideas and this latest idea is to make FOOQU a shopping blog where we search all over the web for interesting goods, both tangible and intangible, that are being sold and post details and pictures and links to where you can buy them.
The range of items we post about will be wide, varying from websites for sale, wordpress themes, website templates, website graphics, logos and other website and business related merchandise, to clothing, furniture, art, consumer electronics, cars, boats, private jets, luxury real estate, gourmet foods, jewelry, books, CDs, DVDs and so on.
Shopping blogs already exist so this isn’t exactly an innovative idea. But no two shopping blogs will necessarily be alike unless one intentionally copies the other. FOOQU will not be a copy of another shopping blog. We’re actually going to go on virtual shopping adventures every day and pick at least one thing we would buy if we could and share it with you so you can dream about being able to buy it too, if you could, or actually buy it if you can.
Why the name FOOQU?
We came about the name FOOQU while looking for an alternative to the domain name for a celebrity gossip blog we run. That blog (the celebrity gossip blog) has a domain name that sounds like a particular curse word though spelled differently, so we were trying to come up with fancy ways to pronounce the word so it wouldn’t sound like the “bad” word. That’s how FOOQU (pronounced FOO-KU) came about.
Why a shopping blog?
We’ve tried a number of different things with fooqu.com. The shopping blog is our newest experiment and we’re hoping to have some fun with it. We were brainstorming a few days ago trying to figure out what type of website could fit the name FOOQU that we might actually have fun doing because none of the other ideas we tried were much fun and we don’t like doing things that aren’t fun. So we asked ourselves, how does the word FOOQU make us feel? The answer we came up with: the word FOOQU makes us feel frantic and crazy and confused. Our next question was, when else do we experience a feeling of franticness, craze and confusion. The answer we came up with: when shopping in a crowded mall. So we came about an association between the word FOOQU and the action of shopping.
We don’t want you to think frantic and craze and confusion when you hear the word FOOQU. If you look up synonyms for all three of those words, you’ll find the word “excite” in some form. We want you to associate the word FOOQU with shopping excitement.
