It is just as well Andre Thomas is on death row. I was tempted to think that he clearly belongs in a mental institution after reading how he plucked out his one good eye and ate it; but after reading why he’s on death row I’ve decided killing him is in his best interest.

News is circulating today about Andre Thomas eating his eye after plucking it out. Apparently he had plucked out his other eye back in 2004; but the judge presiding out the hearing to determine whether or  not he was competent to stand trial for fatally stabbing his estranged wife, his son and his 13-month old daughter and ripping their hearts out wasn’t impressed that he was insane.

Why the judge thought he was competent is beyond. I mean the man showed up at the police station to report that he’d stabbed and killed his family and ripped out their hearts and put the hearts in his pocket and went for a walk before returning home and putting the bodies in plastic bags them throwing them in the trash. That hardly sounds like a mentally competent person; but then again, he had the foresight to put the bodies in plastic bags and throw them in the trash as if to cover up the crime. Why would an insane person who would rip his ex-wife’s and his own children’s hearts from their chests care to try to dispose of the bodies? There had to have been some mental functioning there right? I suppose it would come down to degrees of insanity. There’s no question the man was insane but maybe the judge felt he showed himself capable enough of reason to go to the police and report his crime and also to try to cover it up. What are your thoughts?
