There seems to be something amiss here. A teenager who threatened to kill himself was arrested in Ohio. Apparently threatening to kill yourself can get you arrested in Ohio. That’s about the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Someone is having such a hard time of life that they want to commit suicide and the only thing you can see fit to do is arrest them?
Granted, the Ohio teen who was arrested was playing the fool and wasn’t really suicidal, but he wasn’t arrested because he was playing the fool. He was arrested because he threatened suicide. He was apparently on the phone with Blizzard Entertainment customer service and told the representative he was going to kill himself if he didn’t get some World of Warcraft game. He said he was suicidal and the game was the only thing he had to live for. The representative decided to contact the police and next thing the boy knew he was in police custody.
I’m all for punishing the boy for threatening suicide as a means to try to swindle Blizard Entertainment out of a game; but the state of Ohio needs to revisit the law that allows them to arrest people who threaten to commit suicide. That’s highly ridiculous.
