Daniel Standridge, 33, of North Toledo Ohio stole three flat-screen televisions, several boxes of liquor and a wooden magazine rack from a restaurant. Only problem, he had no way to transport the stolen goods from the restaurant so what did he do? He did what anyone in his situation would do, of course. He called for a taxicab.
According to Harold Webb, the cab drive who picked up Standridge from Manos Greek Restaurant located at 1701 Adams St. in North Toledo, Standridge explained away the items by claiming the restaurant was going out of business and he was taking the things to his boss’s house. One can assume Webb only bought the story because Standridge didn’t exactly fit the profile of the kind of criminal who would do something as stupid as to burglarize a place and call a cab to get transport for himself and his stolen merchandise.
Webb did finally realize he had given a robber transportation after Standridge was unable to pay the cab fare and told him something to the effect that he had $3000 worth of property he could sell to pay the cab fare. It was at that point that Webb called the police.
Standridge has since been arrested and charged with two counts of breaking and entering.
