Apparently there are people who find videos of toddlers physically beating up on each other amusing. These same people are no doubt the very types who call for the lynching of people who participate in dog fighting rings. There’s a soldier under investigation for taping a fight between his son and another toddler and putting the tape on youtube. In the video one 2-year old boy is beating up on another 2-year old boy. An adult can be heard in the backgroud egging on the fight, saying things like, “get him…get him Jason get him…”
In the video you see a slightly older boy, perhaps a 5-year old, try to pull away the boy who’s being beaten up on, but someone physically removes that boy to prevent him from interrupting the fight.
The video has been pulled from youtube but can be seen at abcnews.go.com. Child protective services is now investigating the father who is a soldier stationed at Fort Bragg. The soldier had custody of one of the children in the video. That child has since been removed from his care. The army is also conducting an investigation and had this to say in response to the incident:
“The behavior displayed by the parents in the video is neither condoned nor indicative of soldiers in this command or the Army,” the statement read. “The command takes very seriously the health and welfare of all service members and their families. This command will take the appropriate actions as required and will continue to cooperate with civilian agencies.”
The mother of the boy, Alicia Scheideger, who has been removed by children’s services was responsible for contacting children’s services and the military police after seeing the video on youtube. Scheideger had this to say:
“I was horrified. It’s a baby cockfight — just like somebody put two animals up to fight each other.”
“I mean, I’m their mom and I’ve been told by a friend that if I didn’t know the kids, or it wasn’t my kids, I’d think it was funny and I don’t, I think it’s horrible.”
“As a parent you stop it, you don’t let it continue and you especially don’t let your kid get hurt.”
What do you think about this incident?
