Man breaks into home and takes up residence in attic for a week

A family in Plains Township Pennsylvania kept hearing strange and suspicious noises in their attic so they called police. Police arrived and went up to search the attic but found nothing so they called in a canine unit. That’s when Stanley Carter of Trumann Arkansas was found hiding in a makeshift bed in a crawl space. The 21 year old had been living in Stacy Ferrance’s duplex home for a week, stealing her food and stealing blankets, makeup, tylenol, money, an ipod, and a laptop which he used to email his family in Arkansas. He even kept a list of the things he’d stolen.

How did Stanley Carter get into the attic in the first place? It seems he was staying at the house next door and crawled into Stacy Ferrance’s attic through a trap door in the ceiling of an upstairs bedroom. The homes shared the attic. The people he was staying with had filed a missing person’s report after he dissapeared on December 19th.

Carter is being charged with two counts of burglary, three counts of criminal trespass, two counts of receiving stolen property and two counts of theft. He is currently being held in Luzerne County Jail on $25,000 bail.
