Ever wondered what you could do with an avocado besides mashing it up to make guacamole? Well there are plenty of other things you could do with an avocado. You could, for example make avocado-chocolate truffles. For this you will need a large and very ripe avocado, 1/2 cup butter, 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract, 1 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa, 3 cups powdered (confectioners) sugar and powdered sugar. Exatly what to do with these ingredients to make them come out avocado-chocolate truffles you’ll have to follow the instructions included in the whatscookingamerica.net recipe for avocado-chocolate truffles.
Avocados could also be used to make Avocado Pie, and Avocado Shakes. Avocado-based pies and shakes might sound a wee bit bizarre but don’t knock it till you’ve tried it! If the idea of eating an avocado dessert is too much for you, then you might prefer the sound of avocado gratin. The photo is another yummilicious looking dish from yomi955’s Flickr photo stream. There is no accompanying recipe, but Yomi says in her description that the dish contains avocado, red paprika, fresh cream, mayonnaise, salt, and pepper. Looks like a meal best enjoyed with a light white wine.
