Esteban Núñez, the 19-year old son of Fabian Núñez ( former California Assembly speaker) was arrested Tuesday in Sacramento and charged with murder, assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism stemming from the October 4th murder of 22-year old Luis Santos.

Mesa College student Luis Santos was stabbed to death in the early morning hours of October 4th while on his way home from a party that took place near San Diego State University.

Police believe that Esteban Núñez and a group of his friends accosted Santos and his friends with the intention of getting payback for being turned away from a fraternity party. A fight broke out in the middle of the street and someone from Núñez’s group pulled out a knife. Santos was killed and some of his friends were injured.

If convicted Esteban Núñez could face life in prison.
