His job was to supervise the troubled teens, but according to investigators, Tony Simmons, a NY city worker, raped and sexually abused the girls he was supposed to be protecting.
On Tuesday, 45-year old Bronx, New York resident Tony Simmons entered a not guilty plea in answer to rape and sexual abuse charges. The charges stem from incidents that allegedly took place in 2005 including the raping of a 15-year-old girl in an elevator, and the sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl in a pantry. The crimes are said to have been committed inside the Manhattan Family Court building.
Simmons is a 16-year employee of the Department of Juvenile Justice. It is believe he raped and sexually abused a number of young girls. Four have accused him; however Simmons is only facing prosecution for three of the accusations. The statute of limitations has run out on the fourth. Prosecutors are hoping other young women who might have been raped or sexually assaulted by Simmons will come forward. More from the New York Daily News
