A blonde girl with bluish-gray eyes who will stab you with a pencil if you cross her

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

This girl looks like she’s very nice; but there’s something about her face that makes me think that if you cross her she can be very mean and won’t hesitate to stab you in the thigh with a pencil. She looks like she’s capable of being demanding and temperamental when she’s not in the sweetest mood, but when she’s not in a crabby mood she’s the nicest person you’ll ever want to know.

She looks like a leader and not a follower. She looks like she has a lot of friends and is the popular girl in school. She generally gets what she wants, including whatever boy she wants. She’s bright but hates academics. She gets good grades but she’d rather be painting her nails or talking on her cell than studying for a test.

I can’t decide if she looks like she’s a cheerleader or like she hates cheerleaders. There’s something punky looking about her, like she could up and dye her hair jet black and set it in spikes any minute. She also looks like a young teenager on one hand and a 25-year old on the other.

Notice: I don’t know this girl or know anything about her. This is just a game. I try to guess things about  people I don’t know from pictures. If this is a picture of you and I’ve said anything that offends you I apologize. You can post back a comment and let me know.

Easy going, playful and smart brown-eyed brunette who loves whales and dolphins

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

The girl in this picture looks like she’s nice but no push over. She looks like she’s an intellectual who maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA. She also looks like she can be a little bit high strung and can get kind of emotional and even irrational at certain times of the month; but generally she’s easy-going and playful. She loves to laugh and loves to go out and have fun with her friends.

I’m guessing her parents are divorced and she manages to be loyal and loving to both of them. She’s very understanding of the situation and isn’t mean to her father’s new wife even though she really doesn’t like the woman very much.

I’m also guessing she has a weakness for an occasional slice of extra cheese pizza, but she doesn’t ever go too far overboard. She doesn’t over indulge. She loves to keep fit and has a bit of a tomboy in her. She’s loves animals, especially whales and dolphins and she want to become a Marine biologist.

Notice: I don’t know this girl or know anything about her. This is just a game. I try to guess things about  people I don’t know from pictures. If this is a picture of you and I’ve said anything that offends you I apologize. You can post back a comment and let me know.

Times Square on Sunday outside the New York Marquis at the Mariott

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

People-watching again. It’s Sunday and I’m viewing the Times Square Cam. I just counted eleven cabs driving down the street. Now counting 12 more cabs.

You seem to see more cabs on the streets of New York than any other type of vehicle - cabs and buses and pedestrians. About 100 cabs have driven by in the last 5 minutes, I swear.

There are plenty of people standing outside the New York Marquis at the Mariott; and there’s a woman in a brown jacket and black capri leggings posing while a man takes pictures of her.

Married life today Sunday at 11:00AM

Note: The photo used here has nothing to do with this post. The author of the post does not know the people in the picture. The picture was found on flickr and is being used for illustrative purposes.

I’ve just sent my husband to the store to pick up something to make for dinner. We’re having major financial problems. He wasn’t thrilled to be having to go to the store with only $10 to spend. I hate when he acts out his displeasure because he can be very nasty without saying much. I don’t like it when he shows that  side of himself. I guess he’s entitled to get pissed off sometimes but when he gets pissed off he gets really ugly. Maybe it’s that I need to learn not to take his stuff personally. I understand why he was pissed off. He was sleeping and I woke him up to send him to the store to buy $10 worth of groceries; but still, it’s so much nicer when he makes it seem like he doesn’t mind going on these errands. Maybe I seem to take advantage or something. I don’t think I do but who knows? I’m always aware of how much he does for us, how hard he works for us, how patient he is with me while I struggle to make an income working from home. I know it’s tough on him because he’s on the go every day of week and there never seems to be any reward for him, not even a little sex. It’s not fair really. I know that. I tried to tell him that I was grateful for the effort he makes but I don’t know if I got that across or if I just came off sounding like I want him to be in a good mood so I don’t have to deal with his dark side. Hopefully we’ll both be able to hold ourselves in check long enough to still be together when things turn around for one or the other of us financially. I think we deserve a chance to share in a life without financial worries even for a little while.

How to eat a purse cake

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

I saw this picture of a purse cake on flickr. I guess it would make a nice birthday cake for a girl whose world is all about fashion. Wonder how you would eat this cake? Particularly the handles. Eating the handles would be like eating pure sugar. Curious to see what it looks like when sliced.

Saturday morning at 46th Street and Broadway in New York City

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

It’s raining in New York right now. People are walking back and forth up and down 46th street and Broadway. I am watching them from the camera that’s perched 10 feet off the ground above the 47th Digital Store. The Times Square camera gives an interesting viewpoint of the sidewalk and street. I can see TGI Friday’s straight ahead. There are a couple of phone booths and some mail deposit boxes at the corner of the sidewalk.

I’ve been watching the scene off and on for about a half-hour now, looking for interesting things to capture and write about. I can tell the rain has picked up since I first discovered the Times Square Cam on earthcam.com because more umbrellas have gone up and people are pulling the hoods of their jackets over their heads. I can also see that the sidewalk is getting spotted from drops of water. (more…)

Two lovely Asian ladies waving at the times square live web cam 46th & Broadway

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

I was watching these two Asian ladies standing around on 46th and Broadway in New York a moment ago. One of them was on a cellphone, and I think she must have been talking to a friend or relative who was also watching them on the times square live webcam from earthcam.com because they all of a sudden looked up and started waving.

Of course this started lots of other people looking up at the cam, waving and blowing kisses. I guess these people don’t mind strangers, myself included, watching them while they’re going about their business.

What I’m seeing as I watch people walk up and down Alexandrovska str. in Rousse Bulgaria

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

There was a man sitting on the bench in the foreground watching people but he’s gone now. He looked like he might be a lonely man. He was stocky and short, and casually dressed. He had a smile on his face as if he was bemused and just happy to be observing all the people walking by, but there was a sad cloud hovering over him.

There is no one sitting on the bench now.

The street is pretty busy with people walking back and forth. The street I’m looking at, Alexandrovska Street,  seems like it’s for pedestrians and bikers only (at least the section that I can see). I haven’t seen any cars drive on it, and people are walking pretty casually and comfortably in the the middle of road, even pushing strollers with little children. (more…)

Watching people as they walk back and forth outside Storgatan V in the city of Borgholm, Sweden

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

The Internet is pretty amazing. I’m watching a live webcam from a place named Storgatan V in the city of Borgholm in the state of Oland, Sweden. I “stumbled” across it stumbling websites. Yes, I know it’s voyeuristic even if it’s just looking at cars driving on a street and people going into and coming out of buildings and walking up and down sidewalks on either side of a street.

Someone is crossing the street right now. Can’t tell if it’s a woman or a man. Walks like a woman. Someone else just came out of the same building and got into a car. He/she is now pulling out and now driving down the road behind a white car. The cars have now driven out of my sight and the street is quiet. (more…)

What is the most enriching, most beautiful and purest kind of love?

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

I stumbled across this poem a moment ago. It’s apparently a Persian poem written by the poet Hafez in the 1300’s. According to Wikipedia Hafez was born sometime between the years 1310 and 1337 in Medieval Persia. His poems known as ghazals, are said to be noted for their beauty and credited with bringing “fruition the love, mysticism, and early Sufi themes that had long pervaded Persian poetry”. His poems are also said to demonstrate “elements of modern surrealism”.

The poem:

Even
After
All this time
The sun never says to the earth,

“You owe
Me.”

Look
What happens
With a love like that,
It lights the
Whole
Sky.

It says to me that the most enriching, most beautiful and purest kind of love is love that is given freely, wholly and without condition or expectation of getting something back in return.
