Boy arrested for farting in class

Apparently, a 12-year-old boy was arrested in Stuart Florida earlier this month because he farted on purpose and disrupted his class. Now, this could just be a case of an over-zealous school resource officer throwing his weight around and trying to scare a kid straight, but it’s being reported like it was an actual arrest. I’ve read somewhere that the boy was criminally charged with “disruption of school function”. So, assuming it was indeed an actual arrest where this boy is now on record as having been arrested by police, I’m inclined to throw a WTF!? here because it’s the only reaction that seems warranted.Funny Pics / Cartman Fart

How do you arrest someone for farting? I don’t care how disruptive it was, if the fart burst forth from the boys ass like thunder and filled the classroom with the rancid odor of a thousand rotten eggs. Farting is not a crime and you don’t arrest someone for farting.

Give the kid detention. Suspend him if you need to go that far, but arrest him? Nah, that’s just out of line and the person who arrested him should be charged with the crime of violating someone’s basic human rights. We’re too ready to throw handcuffs on people for every small offense in this country. When you’re arresting a kid because he farted in class that’s just ridiculous. Now if the stench of his fart had killed someone then fine, since he farted on purpose go ahead and charge him murder; but if all he did was annoy his teacher and made a bad smell permeate the class room, he doesn’t need to be put in handcuffs.
