If Hilary Clinton doesn’t get picked for the position of Secretary of State, she might have her husband Bill to blame for it according to a New York Times article. The article “Many Dealings of Bill Clinton Under Review”, written by Don Van Natta Jr. and Jo Becker, discusses how some of the former president’s “post-presidential” activities might prove to be too much of a conflict for the comfort of the Obama administration.
The Obama adminsitration does not want to place themselves in a position where skeletons in Bill Clinton’s closet might come to harm them. They are particularly interested in making sure that Clinton’s foundation and his presidential library in Arkansas will not at any point receive funding from “foreign businesses that have a stake in the actions of the American government”. To that end it seems from what it says in the article that Hilary Clinton’s chance at being named Secretary of State could come down to her husband being willing to make “significant concessions” with regard to who he accepts money from as payment for speaking engagements and funding for his foundation and library.
