10 year old boy arrested, fingerprinted for antics with toy gun

Alandis Ford

A 10-year old boy is in a bit of trouble on account of a toy gun. Alandis Ford’s mother bought him a toy gun from Walmart and Alandis took the gun with him to school. He’s now facing possible expulsion from school and time in juvenile detention. It seems that while Alandis was riding home on the school bus earlier this week, someone saw the gun in his bookbag and started telling everyone else on the bus that Alandis had a gun and was going to shoot everyone with it.

The following afternoon Alandis went to a friends house with his cousin to play. He had his toy gun with him and for some reason someone called 911 and told police that Alandis had a gun and was threatening another kid with the weapon.

According to Alandis he never threatened anyone on the school bus with his toy gun and he never threatened the boy who called 911. However police have accused him of making terroristic threats and say it makes no difference that Alandis’ gun was just a toy.

Lt. Mark Mitchell of the Newton County Sheriff’s Department said, “In this day and time, we do not take anything lightly, whether it’s a toy gun or a real weapon, for the safety of the kids and everyone involved, the safety of the school. That’s our main concern.”

Alandis Ford’s fate now rests in the hands of the judge who will decide whether to give him probation or juvenile detention and the school board who will decide whether or not to expel him from school.
